Shortly before midnight on September 7, Trooper Carlos Borrero, a recent graduate of the 88th Recruit Training Troop, and his Field Training Officer, Trooper Austin Rose, assigned to State Police-Milton, were patrolling Blue Hill Ave in Mattapan. At that time, they conducted a motor vehicle stop on a white Ford Edge after observing the operator using a handheld electronic device while driving.
After the vehicle came to a full stop, the Troopers approached it and informed the operator, later identified as ARGENYS DURAN, 35, of Roxbury, why he was stopped. While speaking to him, the Troopers observed the odor of Marijuana, along with an open bottle of alcohol and several other items commonly used in the packaging of illegal narcotics. After further investigation on scene, DURAN was removed from the vehicle in order to conduct a search. The Troopers subsequently located over four pounds of Marijuana and THC products, psychedelic mushroom products, a large amount of cash, and a loaded .380 caliber pistol hidden inside of a child safety seat. DURAN was placed under arrest and escorted to the rear of a cruiser. A search of the serial number on the pistol revealed that it was reported stolen in Maine.
DURAN was transported to the Milton Barracks for booking. He was scheduled for arraignment at Dorchester District Court on the following offenses:
Illegal Possession of a Firearm;
Possession of a Firearm without FID Card;
Possession of Ammunition without FID Card;
Receiving Stolen Property;
Possession of a Class C Substance with intent to Distribute, two counts;
