Statement on Shooting in Pennsylvania

The Massachusetts State Police is working in close collaboration with our federal, state and local partners to monitor the events that occurred in Butler, Pennsylvania during a political rally for former President Trump.

There is no known connection or direct threat to Massachusetts at this time. Colonel John Mawn has been briefed by the MSP’s Commonwealth Fusion Center intelligence analysts and will continue to provide situational updates to Governor Maura Healey and the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security as needed. Furthermore, the Fusion Center is engaged in constant communication with intelligence units nationwide.

Out of an abundance of caution, MSP has increased presence in highly trafficked areas across the Commonwealth.

As always, we encourage members of the public to remain vigilant and report anything suspicious or out of the ordinary. Please call 911 for emergencies or immediate threats. To report suspicious activity or behaviors, call the MSP Fusion Center at 1-508-820-2233 or email fusion@pol.state.ma.us.
