State Police Lay Wreath at Trooper Charbonnier Memorial

On Monday morning, Colonel Noble and members of the Massachusetts State Police gathered at the Trooper Mark S. Charbonnier Memorial to lay a wreath in tribute to his ultimate sacrifice 30 years ago.

On September 2, 1994, Trooper Charbonnier was shot and wounded as he approached a van during a traffic stop on Route 3 in Kingston, Massachusetts. Though Charbonnier was able to take cover behind the van, return fire, and subdue his attacker, he succumbed to his injuries in the hospital a short time later.

Trooper Charbonnier served in the Massachusetts State Police for six years and was survived by his wife, father, mother, two sisters, and three brothers. His father and brother served in the Boston Police Department at the time of his death.

We remember and honor the memory of Trooper Mark S. Charbonnier this holiday season.
