At 5:10 AM today Massachusetts State Troopers assigned to the Norwell Barracks responded to a three-vehicle crash on Route 3 southbound in Weymouth, near Exit 38B, that resulted in the fatality of one of the operators.
The vehicles involved in the crash were a 2014 Mazda CX5 sport utility vehicle, a 2016 Smart Fortwo car, and a 2011 Chevrolet Trailblazer sport utility vehicle.
The operator of the Mazda, a 40-year-old man, was transported to South Shore Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. His name and hometown are not being released at this time.
The facts and circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by the State Police-Norwell Barracks, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
No further information is being released at this time.
