SHOOTING CHARGES ADDED AGAINST JUVENILE IN CUSTODY FOR REVERE BEACH INCIDENT

As a result of its investigation into the double non-fatal shooting on Revere Beach Boulevard on the evening of May, 28, 2023, the State Police Detective Unit for Suffolk County has filed additional charges against a teenager already in custody in connection with the incident.

Detectives added two counts of Assault and Battery by Means of Discharging a Firearm against the 17-year-old male. The defendant was previously charged with firearms offenses and has been held since a dangerousness hearing in Chelsea District Court on Monday.

Evidence indicates the teenager fired a handgun during an altercation near one of the bathhouses on Revere Beach Boulevard. A 17-year-old male was grazed by a bullet; a 51-year-old female bystander was shot in her lower body.

The State Police Detective Unit for Suffolk County previously charged the juvenile with multiple firearms offenses. He will be arraigned on the new charges at a later date.

Under Massachusetts law a 17-year-old defendant is considered a juvenile unless charged with homicide or indicted as a youthful offender.
