PHOTO RELEASE: EOD Units Work to Ensure Safety at Sheeran Concerts

PHOTO RELEASE--Members of the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad sweep vehicles entering Gillette Stadium Saturday night, the second of two nights that the MSP unit and our partners from the Massachusetts National Guard's 1st Civil Support Team and the Department of Fire Services' Joint Hazardous Incident Response Team provided explosive ordnance disposal support for the Ed Sheeran concerts. The units conducted multiple sweeps on both nights, ensuring there were no hazards in areas such as dressing rooms, the stage, the stadium floor, entry and egress points, trailers, the baggage storage area, and service vehicles entering the venue. On both Friday and Saturday nights, EOD personnel and their canine partners screened more than 100 vehicles and cleared dozens of unattended bags. There are no shortage of missions to undertake during security operations for large-venue events like major concerts, especially when the featured star draws more than 71,000 fans each night (setting a record for single-show attendance at Gillette during Saturday's show).
