Numerous outlets have asked about this afternoon’s incident in Holyoke. At 12:44 PM we deployed multiple patrols, K9 teams and investigative units to assist Holyoke Police with the investigation into and search for suspects from a shooting in the area of 397 Maple St.
Multiple victims suffered gunshot wounds and were transported to area hospitals. Preliminary investigation indicates one of the victims was on a bus that was passing through the area.
Preliminary investigation indicates the shooting stemmed from an altercation among a group of people. There is not believed to be any ongoing threat to the public.
The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by members of the State Police Detective Unit for Hampden County and Holyoke Police Detectives. The investigation is under the direction of the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office.
