MSP, NHSP Human Remains Detection K9 Teams Hold Joint Water Training

The Massachusetts State Police K9 Unit has four dogs (and soon to be a fifth) trained in human remains detection, a specialized skill that proves invaluable in homicide and missing persons investigations. All of MSP’s cadaver dogs are water-trained, meaning they can, while working from a boat or shoreline, detect the trace scent of human remains that are under the water.

Earlier this week, MSP K9 teams trained in human remains detection conducted a joint water training with New Hampshire State Police teams on Skatutakee Lake in Harrisville, N.H. Here are some scenes from the training exercise.
