The Lawrence Police Department, Massachusetts State Police, and the Essex County Sheriff’s Department last week conducted a successful operation, dubbed May Flower, targeting motor vehicle infractions, drug dealing, gang activity, and subjects of warrants for violent crimes. The operation also targeted other issues affecting the quality of life of citizens of the city, including unlawful operation of motorcycles and off-road vehicles.
The operation, which was conducted April 23 and 25, resulted in Troopers and Officers issuing 303 citations for motor vehicle violations and equipment deficiencies. Police made 39 arrests, issued criminal summonses to nine other people, seized or towed numerous vehicles, including five illegal dirt bikes were seized.
MSP units that participated in Operation May Flower were Troop A and the Air Wing. The operation was led Lawrence Police Lieutenant Jay Cerullo and Massachusetts State Police Lieutenant Peter Morawiak.
