Joint Taskforce Arrests Man for Distribution of Narcotics

On Thursday July 12, members of the Massachusetts State Police Commonwealth Interstate Narcotics Reduction Enforcement Team (C.I.N.R.E.T. Western Region), assisted by the Easthampton Police Department, United States Postal Inspectors, DEA and Northwestern District Attorney’s Office Anti-Crime Task Force, arrested Cavoris Harris, 41-year-old  Easthampton resident, for multiple narcotic related offenses including, Trafficking in Methamphetamine 100-200 Grams, Possession with intent to distribute Class A (Gamma Hydroxy Butyric Acid) and Possession with intent to distribute Class B (Ecstasy).

After a months long investigation, investigators executed a search warrant at a residence in in Easthampton and seized approximately 121 grams of suspected “crystal rock” Methamphetamine, MDMA (ecstasy pills) and a small quantity of GHB (Gamma Hydroxy Butyric Acid).

Investigators have seen a recent increase in Methamphetamine in the Western Region.  Methamphetamine is a powerful, highly addictive stimulant that affects the nervous system. It has numerous overdose effects including death from stroke, heart attack, and organ damage caused by overheating.  It’s usually sold in a crystal, known as “crystal rock”, form, pills, or in powder form.  Under the direction of Colonel Mawn, the C.I.N.R.E.T. West Team has focused their efforts to disrupt and dismantle Methamphetamine Drug Trafficking Organizations. "I cannot stress enough the importance of eradicating the presence of methamphetamine in our communities. This drug devastates lives, fuels crime, and undermines the safety and well-being of our neighborhoods. We are committed to combatting the trafficking of methamphetamine through our dedicated multi-disciplinary task force approach, which involves collaboration with public health and social service partners, local police departments, federal law enforcement agencies, District Attorneys, the Attorney General, and the United States Attorney's Office.  We will continue to work tirelessly to rid our streets of this dangerous substance and provide support to those affected by its grip." -Colonel Mawn

C.I.N.R.E.T.-West is actively supported and staffed by full-time collocated members from the Massachusetts State Police and supported by various federal and local agencies in the area including the Easthampton Police Department. C.I.N.R.E.T. West has well established working relationships in the region. This case is a great example of partnerships and positive impact on the communities.
