Firearm Located In Vehicle That Fled Traffic Stop Results in Three Arrests

Boston - In the early morning of July 31, Trooper Corey McLaughlin of the SP-Milton Barracks was on a traffic stop on Gallivan Boulevard in Dorchester. While clearing the initial stop, Trooper McLaughlin observed a Honda Civic pass by his location at a high rate of speed.

Trooper McLaughlin quickly returned to his cruiser and caught up to the Civic, which had turned onto Dorchester Avenue, and was travelling well over the posted limit of 30 miles per hour. Trooper McLaughlin attempted to stop the vehicle for the infraction, but the Civic accelerated and attempted to flee.

The vehicle entered a parking lot on Dorchester Avenue, and then exited, cutting across the roadway and entering a second parking lot, pulling behind a building. Trooper McLaughlin radioed for backup, and then cautiously pulled his cruiser behind the building where he saw the vehicle stopped. Trooper McLaughlin established a hasty perimeter and waited for his backup, which quickly arrived to assist.

Now backed up by Troopers Ross Pierce and Connor McGuire, as well as Boston officers, the Trooper McLaughlin approached the vehicle and noted the driver’s seat to be empty. Troopers three occupants still sitting in the passenger and rear seats which were not visible, due to the dark tint affixed to all of the Civic’s windows.

The occupants were frisked and detained and Trooper McGuire located a loaded Glock 17 firearm with a 17-round magazine in the center console. None of the vehicle’s occupants were licensed to carry a firearm. It was then determined the operator had fled the area where they stopped the vehicle. Items left behind were utilized to determine that person’s identity, and an arrest warrant was sought.

The three occupants; LUIS ORTIZ, 28, of Rockland, LICINIA MONTEIRO, 20, of Brockton, and JORDAN KISER, 19, of Whitman were brought to the Milton Barracks to be booked, fingerprinted, and photographed per department policy.

LUIS ORTIZ, LICINIA MONTEIRO, and JORDAN KISER were scheduled to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of:

1.         Possession Of A Firearm;

2.         Possession Of A Large Capacity Feeding Device; and

3.         Possession Of Ammunition Without FID.
