UPDATE: VICTIM OF FATAL CRASH IN WILLIAMSBURG IDENTIFIED

The victim in yesterday’s fatal crash on Mountain Street in Williamsburg has been identified as Allen Tautznik, 33, of Easthampton. No other information is available at this time. Original release below.

STATE POLICE INVESTIGATING FATAL CRASH IN WILLIAMSBURG

December 28, 2021

At approximately 2 p.m. today Troopers assigned to State Police-Northampton responded to reports of a single vehicle crash on Mountain Street in Williamsburg. 911 callers reported the vehicle was well off the roadway.

Upon the arrival of Troopers they located a 2008 Chrysler Sebring that, for reasons still under investigation, left the roadway and crashed down an embankment. Troopers located the operator, a 33-year-old man from Easthampton, ejected from the vehicle appearing to have suffered serious injuries. He was declared deceased at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the crash and the operator was the sole occupant in the vehicle.

The exact cause and circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by Troop B of the Massachusetts State Police along with the State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section, and the State Police Detective Unit assigned to Hampshire County. No further information is available at this time.
