MSP Investigating Fatal Rollover In Sandwich
At 5:50 a.m. today Troopers from the State Police-Bourne Barracks responded to a single-vehicle rollover on Route 6 eastbound at mile marker 59.4,prior to Exit 59, in Sandwich.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle went off the roadway into the median, struck a tree, then stuck the wire guardrail and rolled over. The operator, an 18-year-old man from Sandwich, was determined to be deceased at the scene.
The crash resulted in the closure of the left travel lanes both eastbound and westbound.
The crash remains under investigation by Troop D of the Massachusetts State Police with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
Troopers were assisted on scene by Sandwich Fire, the Medical Examiners Office as well as MassDOT.
