MSP Investigating Fatal Rollover Crash, Rt. 91, Bernardston
On Saturday at 7:33 p.m. Troopers from the State Police-Shelburne Falls Barracks responded to a rollover crash on Route 91 south, in Bernardston. The crash resulted in the fatality of a passenger.
Responding Troopers determined the victim had been ejected in the crash. Northfield Firefighters and EMS performed attempted life-saving measures on scene. The victim was transported to Baystate/Franklin Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.
Preliminary investigation suggests the vehicle a 2002 Nissan Pathfibder was southbound on Route 91, with a flat tire, when the operator lost control and the vehicle rolled over into the median. The passenger Oscar Lemus a 32-year-old male from Flushings, NY, was ejected from the vehicle when it rolled over. The other passenger a 54-year-old woman, and the operator, a 57-year-old male both of Flushings, NY, were also transported to Baystate/Franklin Medical Center
The crash remains under investigation by Troop B of the Massachushetts State Police, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Franklin County Detectives, and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section. Troopers were assisted on-scene by Bernardston Police, Fire Department, EMS and Northfield Police, Fire, EMS and MA DOT.
