Around 11 a.m. today, Troopers assigned to the State Police-Springfield Barracks responded to a crash on I-91 near Exit 10B in West Springfield involving an SUV that rolled over.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a 54-year-old man from Springfield, driving a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero, was ejected from the vehicle when it rolled. The Mitsubishi operator was determined to be deceased on scene. There were no passengers or other vehicles involved.
The crash remains under investigation with assistance from State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section, and Hampden County State Police Detective Unit.
The entire roadway was closed at Exit 10B for investigative purposes. Traffic was rerouted to Route 5 Southbound. All lanes have since reopened and traffic is beginning to flow normally again. No further information is available at this time as it is still under investigation.
