Troopers Arrest Wanted Man with Gun, Narcotics

Shortly after midnight on March 23 Trooper David Marra, assigned to State Police-Springfield, was on patrol traveling on Route 91 northbound in Longmeadow. As he was passing Mile Marker 1 he observed a black Mercedes sedan, with a defective headlight, pass his cruiser. Trooper Marra activated his emergency lights and stopped the vehicle in the area of Mile Marker 3.

After the vehicle came to a stop he approached it and identified the operator as DELROY GOULDBOURNE, 32, of Hartford, Conn. Trooper Marra informed him why he was stopped and gathered his license and registration then returned to his cruiser to conduct an electronic inquiry. The inquiry revealed GOULDBOURNE’s license was suspended in Massachusetts. It also revealed GOULDBOURNE had a warrant for his arrest out of Springfield District Court. Trooper Marra returned to the Mercedes and placed GOULDBOURNE under arrest. A pat-frisk of GOULDBOURNE’s person revealed he was carrying a concealed Phoenix Arms pistol in his waistband loaded with 10 rounds of ammunition. Trooper Marra also located a small amount of a substance suspected to be Oxycodone in GOULDBOURNE’s pocket.

GOULDBOURNE was placed in a cruiser then transported to the Springfield Barracks for booking. A bail commissioner was contacted and set bail at $500, which he was able to post. GOULDBOURNE was released and ordered to appear at Springfield District Court for arraignment on the following charges:

  1. Carrying a Loaded Firearm;
  2. Possession of a Firearm;
  3. Possession of Ammunition without FID Card;
  4. Possession of a Class B Substance;
  5. Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License;
  6. Left Lane Violation; and
  7. Headlight Violation.
