Yesterday, shortly before 3 a.m., Trooper Gilbert Gonzalez and his Field Training Officer, Trooper Brian Gervais, were on patrol assigned to State Police-Leominster. While traveling on Boutelle Street in Fitchburg they observed a Nissan sedan with a revoked registration. Trooper Gonzalez activated the cruiser’s blue lights and stopped the Nissan on Harvard Street.
Once the vehicle was stopped, the Troopers approached it and identified the operator as CODY MOUNSYSAVANH, 25, of Fitchburg. After a short conversation it was quickly learned MOUNSYSAVANH had a suspended driver’s license. He was asked to exit the vehicle in order conduct an inventory of its contents prior to it being towed from the scene. As he stepped out, he informed the Troopers there was a loaded firearm in a bag on the passenger seat. MOUNSYSAVANH does not possess a license to carry firearms and was secured in the rear of the cruiser while the Troopers investigated his claims. Trooper Gonzalez conducted the inventory and subsequently located the 9mm pistol in the bag, along with three cell phones.
MOUNSYSAVANH was placed under arrest and transported to the Leominster Barracks for booking. A bail commissioner was contacted and set bail at $10,000. He is expected to be arraigned at Fitchburg District Court on the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm without FID Card;
- Carrying a Firearm;
- Possession of Ammunition without FID Card;
- Carrying a Loaded Firearm;
- Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License;
- Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Revoked Registration; and
- Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.
