Sutton Man Arrested for Illegally Possessing a Firearm in Worcester

Early this morning, at approximately 1:36 a.m., Trooper Eric Hayes, a recent graduate of the 85th Recruit Training Troop, and Field Training Officer, Trooper Rafael Cazares were on patrol of Main Street in the city of Worcester, when they stopped a 2004 Volvo for a motor vehicle violation.

After a brief investigation, a passenger of the vehicle, identified as DANIEL MCGREEVEY, 27, of Sutton, was found to have an active arrest warrant from Uxbridge District Court from a previous incident, and also found to be in possession of Suboxone, which is a controlled Class B drug, as well as a loaded .32 caliber Davis Industries firearm with a defaced serial number. MCGREEVEY is not licensed to carry a firearm or ammunition.

MCGREEVEY was placed under arrest and brought to the State Police Holden Barracks for booking.

MCGREEVEY was charged with the following:
1.            Possession of a firearm without FID card;
2.            Possession of ammunition without FID card;
3.            Carrying loaded firearm;
4.            Receiving firearm with defaced number;
5.            Possession of Class B drug; and
6.            Warrant.

MCGREEVEY was held on $2540 bail pending arraignment in Worcester District Court.
