Mattapan Man Arrested for Illegally Possessing a Firearm in Brockton

Saturday afternoon, at approximately 3:32 p.m., troopers assigned to the Troop D Community Action Team were on patrol of Manley Street in the city of Brockton, when they stopped a Toyota Rav4 for a motor vehicle violation.

After a brief investigation, the operator, and only occupant of the vehicle, identified as AMARU I. MARK, 23, of Mattapan, was found to be in possession of a loaded Glock 42 .380 firearm, with the serial number defaced. MARK is not licensed to carry a firearm or ammunition.

MARK was placed under arrest and brought to the State Police Middleboro Barracks for booking.

MARK was charged with the following:
1.            Possession/carrying a firearm;
2.            Carrying a loaded firearm; and
3.            Defaced firearm serial number.

MARK was issued a citation for the motor vehicle violation. MARK was held on $1040 bail pending arraignment in Brockton District Court.
