Two Arrested After Fleeing Motor Vehicle Stop and Illegally Possessing Firearm

Last night at about 6:40 p.m., Troopers Thomas Palmerino and Justin Dauplaise assigned to the Troop B Community Action Team (CAT) were on patrol in the city of Springfield when they observed a black Nissan Rogue commit motor vehicle violations. The troopers stopped the Nissan, which contained two occupants, on Mill St.

As the troopers approached the Nissan, they observed the passenger, IRWIN SANCHEZ, 24 of Chicopee, duck below the seat out of view with both hands reaching under the seat.  Trooper Dauplaise asked the occupants to exit the vehicle in order to search the area where SANCHEZ was seated. The operator identified as LAMIEK WHITE, 26 of Holyoke, hesitated exiting while SANCHEZ reached over the console and put the car in drive.  WHITE slammed his foot on the gas and sped off at a high rate of speed.  Trooper Dauplaise had to quickly step back to avoid being hit.

Troopers pursued the Nissan for several streets, before observing the driver and passenger doors open and both occupants flee on foot. After a brief pursuit through a small wooded area to a fenced in yard, Troopers along with Springfield Police officers captured SANCHEZ and WHITE in the area of 389 Pine Street.

Troopers searched the area and located a loaded Smith and Wesson .38 Revolver that contained 3 rounds of ammunition.
