Vermont Man Arrested for Trafficking Narcotics

Last evening at about 7:00p.m., Trooper Michael Leslie assigned to the State Police-Shelburne Falls Barracks was monitoring traffic on Route 91 northbound when he stopped a silver Toyota Camry at the 52-mile marker for motor vehicle violations and an expired temporary Vermont registration.

Trooper Leslie approached the Camry to notify the operator, REGINALD JONES, 38, of Barre, Vt, the reason for the stop. JONES was informed his vehicle would be towed and was asked to step out of the vehicle for an inventory to be performed prior to being towed.  As a result of a search of the vehicle and of Jones’ person, the Trooper located  approximately 1,118 grams of cocaine, 53 grams of crack cocaine, 25 grams of Heroin, 15 Ecstasy pills, two bags of marijuana and $500.00 in cash. 

JONES was placed under arrest and transported to the Shelburne Falls Barracks where he was booked on the following charges:

1. Trafficking Cocaine;

2. Trafficking Heroin;

3. Possession of Class E;

4. Unregistered Motor Vehicle;

5. Distribute Class D;

6. Speeding; and

7. Marked Lanes Violation. A bail commissioner was contacted and set bail at $50,000. JONES was held at the Hampshire County House of Correction pending his arraignment Monday at Northampton District Court.
