Crash in Winthrop Leaves One Dead

This is a preliminary release. This afternoon, at approximately 3:00 p.m., troopers from the State Police – Revere Barracks responded to reports of a serious injury crash on Winthrop Shore Drive near Neptune Avenue in Winthrop.

Upon arrival, troopers discovered a coupe convertible had struck a parked pickup truck, which was unoccupied. The convertible had three occupants. The driver was determined to be deceased on scene, as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. The other two occupants were transported with serious, life-threatening injuries to Mass General Hospital.

The crash scene is still under investigation with reconstruction ongoing. More information will be released when it is available.

Troop A Headquarters, State Police Crime Scene Services Section (CSSS), State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section (CARS), Winthrop Police and Fire Departments, Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (MA DCR), and the Massachusetts Office of the Chief Medical Examiner all assisted on scene.
