A crash on Route 495 in Bolton this afternoon resulted in one man being transported to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Ray Burton indicates that at about 1:35 p.m., a 49-year-old Clinton man was traveling on Route 495 Southbound in the area of Exit 27 in Bolton in a 2011 Mazda CX9 when he struck a 2008 Acura RDX, operated by a 33-year-old Worcester man, who was traveling southbound at the time. Following that collision, the Mazda then struck the rear end of a 2018 Freightliner tractor trailer, operated by a 28-year-old man from Central Falls, Rhode Island, who was also traveling southbound at the time.
The operator of the Mazda was extricated by fire personnel on the scene and then flown by Life Flight medical helicopter to UMass Medical Center in Worcester for treatment of serious injuries. No one else was injured in the crash.
This crash remains under investigation with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Services Section. No charges have been filed at this time.
State Police were assisted on scene by Bolton and Boxborough Fire and EMS, and MassDOT.
