An early morning motor vehicle stop on Blue Hills Parkway in Milton yesterday led to the arrest of a Brockton man on gun charges.
At about 12:45 a.m., Troopers Scott Drinkwater and Kevin Tufts stopped a 2014 Infinity Q50 on Blue Hills Parkway at Austin Street for failing to display a front license plate and having suspected illegal window tint. During their contact with the operator, troopers became concerned for their safety based upon suspicious movements by the operator, who was attempting to conceal an item under his seat. Upon further investigation, troopers located a loaded Colt 9mm 1911 style pistol under his seat. The operator and sole occupant of the vehicle, EDISON HUI, 19, of Brockton, was not properly licensed to be in possession of a firearm or ammunition. It was subsequently determined that the gun was reported to have been stolen out of Bridgewater.
HUI was placed under arrest and charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a firearm without an FID card
- Possession of ammunition without an FID card
- Improper storage of a firearm
- Carrying a loaded firearm
- Receiving stolen property over $1,200.00
- Window obstructed/non-transparent
- Number plate violation
HUI was held on $25,000.00 bail pending his arraignment in Quincy District Court yesterday.
