At 7:07 a.m., State Police-Tunnels received a report of a female pedestrian hit by a vehicle on Frontage Road in Boston, in the area of #400, approximately 100 yards prior to the Boston Transportation Department (BTD) facility entrance. The pedestrian, a 39-year-old Boston woman, suffered serious injuries in the crash and was transported to Boston Medical Center. She received emergency care and is currently in stable condition.
Troopers determined that a 2019 Toyota Camry operated by a 49-year-old Dorchester woman was following the regular flow of traffic when it struck the victim. There is no crosswalk in the area of the crash, and the traffic had a green light about 100 yards away at the intersection of Frontage Road the BTD parking lot. Preliminary investigation, including interviews of the driver and an independent witness, indicates that the victim walked suddenly and without warning into the travel lane in front of the Camry. The investigation remains ongoing and is being conducted by Troop H of the Massachusetts State Police with assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
An off-duty Boston Police officer observed the aftermath of the crash and provided medical aid to the victim at the scene until Boston EMS arrived on scene. No further information is being released at this time.
