Troopers Investigating Fatal Crash in Richmond

At 4:20 p.m. today troopers assigned to State Police Lee responded to 911 calls of a serious crash on Route 41 at Dublin Road in Richmond that resulted in the death of a person.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper James Somerville indicates that a 78-year-old woman from Richmond was driving a 2007 Subaru Forester when, for reasons still under investigation, it was involved in a collision with a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado operated by a 19-year-old female from Chatham, N.Y. An 84-year-old male passenger of the Subaru was transported to an area hospital in serious condition where he succumbed to his injuries. The operator of the Subaru was transported to an area hospital in serious condition and is expected to survive. The operator of the Chevrolet was not injured.

The road was closed at that location for approximately four hours.

This crash remains under investigation with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

State Police were assisted on scene by Action EMS and troopers assigned to State Police Cheshire.
