More Than 1,500 Bags of Heroin Seized During Motor Vehicle Stop in Greenfield

At approximately 12:50 a.m. Saturday, Trooper Scott Boutell assigned to the State Police- Shelburne Falls Barracks stopped a 2017 Toyota Corolla on I-91 North near Exit 28 for motor vehicle violations.

As a result of an investigation, the driver, KENNETH DEMINGWARE, 28, and his passenger, KYLE DENNIS, 26, both from Barre, Vt., were found in possession of approximately 1,520 wax paper bags containing  suspected Heroin with an approximate weight of 30.4 grams. Both men were placed under arrest and transported to State Police-Shelburne Falls for booking.

 DEMINGWARE was charged with the following offenses:

1. Trafficking Heroin;

2. Conspiracy to Violate Drug Law;

3. Motor Vehicle Operator Refuse to Identify Self;

4. Arrestee Furnish False Name/SSN;

5. Warrant;

6. Unlicensed Operation; and

7. Speeding.

DENNIS was charged with the following offenses:

1. Trafficking Heroin;

2. Conspiracy to Violate Drug Law;

3. Tampering with Evidence; and

4. Litter from Motor Vehicle.

Bail was set for DEMINGWARE at $5,000 and DENNIS at $2,500.  Both were held at the Franklin County House of Correction pending their arraignment yesterday in Greenfield District Court.
