A motor vehicle stop by a member of the Troop A Community Action Team on Bennington Street in Lawrence last night led to the arrest of a Bradford man for trafficking heroin, among other charges.
At about 7:10 p.m. yesterday, Trooper Nicholas Neczypyr pulled over a 2002 Nissan Altima on Bennington Street at Park Street in Lawrence for an equipment violation and invalid inspection. The operator of the vehicle, JULIO VALERIO, 34, of Bradford, initially falsely identified himself to the trooper and was placed under arrest. Further investigation led to the discovery of approximately 165 grams of a substance believed to be heroin on VALERIO and in his vehicle.
VALERIO was charged with the following offenses:
- Heroin trafficking, 100 grams or more but less than 200
- Operating after suspension, subsequent offense
- Refuse to identify self
- Seat belt violation
- No inspection sticker
- Equipment violation
VALERIO was arraigned in Lawrence District Court today.
