At approximately 5:50 p.m. Friday a person walking on the Longfellow Bridge over the Charles River below reported seeing a body in the water. The Massachusetts State Police Marine Unit responded, as did Troop H patrols, State Police detectives, and State Police Crime Scene Services personnel.
At 5:57 pm MSP Marine One’s crew pulled a deceased male from the water. The body has been identified as that of a 61-year-old man. Evidence was located connecting him to a homeless shelter in Boston. There were no obvious signs of trauma to the body.
We are not releasing the man’s name this time. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner took custody of the body. The investigation into the cause and manner of the man’s death is ongoing.
