On Friday, the Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit Central Team located a suspected member of the Blood street gang who was wanted for threats to kill a pregnant woman as well as on a warrant for defaulting on a court appearance for drug dealing charges.
MSP Gang Unit Troopers and members of the Worcester Police Gang Unit, along with members of other MSP units, converged on and arrested KIOSNEL PINEIRO, 21, of Worcester, after he attended funeral services for a relative at Hope Cemetery in Worcester.
A day earlier, MSP Gang Unit Troopers had developed information indicating PINEIRO might be attending the services, and Troopers on Friday set up surveillance outside a Worcester funeral home and at the cemetery. Troopers observed PINEIRO enter the funeral home in the morning and then, after he left, followed him to the cemetery.
Around noon on Friday, members of the arrest team took PINEIRO into custody without incident after the services at the cemetery ended, and as the suspect was about to get into a vehicle that had arrived after the services began. He was transported to the Worcester Police Station and booked.
PINEIRO was the subject of multiple law enforcement bulletins regarding threats he made last month to kill a pregnant woman. Law enforcement officers have been aware of multiple photos PINEIRO had posted of himself on social media posing with firearms.
PINEIRO is also the subject of a default warrant from Worcester Superior Court for distribution of Class A and B narcotics, stemming from a case in which he sold drugs to an undercover MSP Trooper in 2017.
The MSP Gang Unit and Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section had been working to locate PINEIRO for several days.
