Crash in Walpole Kills Wrentham Woman

Early this morning, at approximately 2:54 a.m., troopers from the State Police Barracks in Foxboro responded to reports of a crash on I-95 northbound at the 20.4 mile-marker in Walpole.

Upon arrival, troopers discovered that a 2017 Ford Escape, driven by Sara F. Kaufman, 44, of Wrentham, was traveling northbound on I-95, when for reasons still under investigation, drove off the left side of the roadway, striking the beginning section of a guardrail, then rolled, coming to rest partially on the guardrail.

Ms. Kaufman was determined to be deceased on scene, as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

During the crash response and investigation, the left two lanes were closed. All lanes were opened at approximately 5:52 a.m.

The remaining facts and circumstances are currently under investigation by troopers from the Foxboro Barracks and Troop H Headquarters. Troop H Headquarters, State Police Crime Scene Services Section (CSSS), State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section (CARS), Walpole Fire Department, Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MADOT), and the Massachusetts Office of the Chief Medical Examiner all assisted on scene.
