Serious Crash in Methuen Under Investigation

Yesterday at approximately 7:00 pm troopers from State Police-Andover responded to a crash with multiple serious injuries on Route 213 westbound prior to Route 93 in Methuen. This crash involved three motorcycles and two passenger cars.

Preliminary investigation shows one motorcycle was involved in a single vehicle crash causing an immediate traffic backup. The backup of traffic then caused the second and third motorcycles to strike the passenger cars.

An operator of one of the motorcycles was transported to Boston Medical Center due to the extent of his injuries. The operators of the other two motorcycles, along with a passenger, were all transported to Lawrence General Hospital. The passenger was then air lifted to Lahey Medical Center due to the extent of her injuries.

The exact circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by troopers assigned to the Andover Barracks, State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and Crime Scene Services.
