Troop C Community Action Team arrests man on gun and drug charges in Fitchburg

A motor vehicle stop last night in Fitchburg led to the arrest of a man on charges including possession with intent to distribute heroin and cocaine, as well as unlawful possession of a stolen firearm in the commission of a felony.

At around 8:35 p.m., troopers assigned to the Troop C Community Action Team stopped a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee on Blossom Street in Fitchburg for failing to use a turn indicator and failing to stop at a stop sign.  Upon making contact with the operator and upon further investigation, troopers determined that the man was in possession of a substance believed to be heroin.  Troopers subsequently located a stolen Glock handgun with a loaded high capacity magazine in his vehicle and a quantity of a substances believed to be cocaine and Suboxone on his person.

The operator, LUIS RIVERA, 26, of Fitchburg, was placed under arrest and booked at the State Police Barracks in Leominster on the following charges:

  1. Possession/Carrying a Firearm without license
  2. Possession of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony
  3. Possession of a Loaded Firearm
  4. Possession of Ammunition Without FID
  5. Possession of a Large capacity weapon or Feeding Device
  6. Firearm, Store Improper
  7. Receiving Stolen Property
  8. Possession of a Class A Substance with intent to distribute
  9. Possession of a Class B Substance with intent to distribute
  10. Drug, Possess Class B (Suboxone)
  11. Fail to Signal
  12. Fail to Stop at a Stop Sign

RIVERA was held on $10,000.00 bail pending his arraignment in Fitchburg District Court today.
