Troopers Arrest Two Men on Weapons and Drug Charges

Just before 5:00 p.m. yesterday Trooper Ricky Chiampi, of the State Police Barracks in Revere, observed a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado with a rejected inspection sticker on Squire Road in Revere. Trooper Chiampi caught up to the truck and followed it for a short time eventually stopping it after the operator failed to signal a turn.

While the vehicle was stopping, Trooper Chiampi noticed erratic movement by the passengers, raising suspicion that a crime could be taking place.

Once the vehicle finally stopped, Trooper Chiampi approached the passenger side when the occupant, identified as CHRISTOPHER CIANO, 21 of Revere, opened the door to speak to Trooper Chiampi. Trooper Chiampi quickly observed a silver hand gun by CIANO’s feet and immediately placed him in custody.

Due to the circumstances, the juvenile operator along with the rear seat passenger, identified as AYOUB HADDAD, 18 of Malden, were both taken into custody.

Once all three occupants were secured, troopers searched the vehicle and located over $3,100 in cash along with over 9 ounces of Marijuana and a scale commonly used in the distribution of narcotics.

The juvenile operator was issued a criminal summons and was allowed to leave the scene when his mother arrived to accept custody of him. CIANO and HADDAD were both transported to the Revere barracks for booking and were both be arraigned at Chelsea District Court today on the following charges:

  • Possession of Class D Drug with Intent to Distribute;
  • Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws;
  • Possession of a Firearm; and
