State Police Seeking Public’s Help to Identify State House Vandal

The Massachusetts State Police are seeking the public’s help to identify a man suspected of vandalizing the exterior of the State House in the early hours of March 3.

Investigation by MSP troopers uncovered graffiti painted at the following locations:

-State House at corner of Derne and Bowdoin streets;

-State House at corner of Mount Vernon and Hancock streets;

-DCR guard building on Mount Vernon;

-Fiedler Foot Bridge; and

-A privately-owned residence on Mount Vernon at Hancock streets.

The Massachusetts State Police are conducting a joint investigation with the Boston Police as several private residences and vehicles in Beacon Hill and the surrounding area were vandalized with similar graffiti. Much of the graffiti consisted of words expressing strong political beliefs.

Ongoing investigation by MSP Troop H, including review of surveillance video in the area, suggests that the March 3 tagging was likely committed by the same male suspect who tagged the State House, other buildings, and a car in the same area earlier this winter.

Anyone with any information related to this incident may contact Trooper Timothy Burns with the Massachusetts State Police Troop H Detective Office at 617-740-7812. Below are several images of the man suspected of committing the crime.
