MSP Troopers Arrest Man Wanted in Pennsylvania after Pursuit

At approximately 4:10 p.m. today, Trooper James Farrell, assigned to the the State Police Sturbridge Barracks, observed a 2017 Nissan Altima speeding on Route 84 eastbound prior to the Massachusetts Turnpike. When Trooper Farrell attempted to stop the vehicle, the operator did not comply and fled at an extremely high rate of speed. Pursuit of the vehicle was authorized by Troop C Headquarters.

The pursuit continued on to Route 90 eastbound, where other cruisers joined to assist. Eventually, the vehicle continued on to Route 146 where it then attempted to take the Exit 12 off-ramp at a high rate of speed. While doing so, the vehicle’s hood became ajar and blocked the driver’s view, causing him to crash. No other vehicles were involved in the crash and the operator, identified as GENAREO BRICE, 28 of Chester, Penn., was not injured.

While on scene troopers discovered that BRICE was a Fugitive from Justice who was wanted in Pennsylvania. (The underlying crime for which BRICE is wanted in Pennsylvania is not immediately known to MSP Media Relations.)

BRICE was booked at the State Police-Sturbridge barracks on the following charges:

1.            Fugitive From Justice on Court Warrant;

2.            Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle;

3.            Failure to Stop for Police;

4.            Speeding; and

5.            Breakdown Lane Violation.

BRICE is being held until his arraignment at Dudley District Court, where arrangements will be made for his transportation to Pennsylvania.
