Bristol NH Man Killed in Chelmsford Crash

November 4, 2018 — This evening, at approximately 5:04 p.m., troopers from the State Police Barracks in Concord responded to reports of a crash on Route 3 Southbound, south of Exit 30 in Chelmsford. The caller, an off-duty trooper, reported a one-vehicle crash, where the vehicle had exited the right side roadway and into a body of water. The off-duty trooper entered the water to attempt to render medical aid to the driver.

Upon arrival, Trooper Paul Langone met with Trooper Christopher Call and the off-duty trooper, Trooper Christopher Fantasia, as well as other responders who removed the driver from the vehicle. The driver, and only occupant of the 2011 BMW X3, a 63-year-old man from Bristol, New Hampshire was unresponsive. The man was transported by ambulance to Lowell General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the driver may have had a medical incident which caused the crash. The name of the driver will be released after family notifications have been made.

The remaining facts and circumstances of the crash are currently under investigation by troopers from the Concord Barracks. Troop A Headquarters, State Police Crime Scene Services Section (CSSS), State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section (CARS), Chelmsford Fire Department, and Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MADOT) all assisted on scene.
