September 22, 2018 — This morning at about 2:30 A.M., State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Route 290 Eastbound, just prior to Exit 22 in Worcester, which resulted in the death of a Lawrence woman.
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Antwan Haywood indicates that a 31-year-old Lawrence woman was driving on Route 290 Eastbound in a 2017 Honda Civic when her vehicle rear-ended a Ford F-350 pickup truck which was towing a car carrier.
As a result of the collision, the operator of the Honda and her two passengers, a 24-year-old man and a 25-year-old man, both from Lawrence, were entrapped. Members of the Worcester Fire Department extricated all three from the vehicle and they were then transported to UMass Medical Center in Worcester, where the operator was subsequently pronounced deceased. The operator of the pickup truck was uninjured.
The cause of this crash remains under investigation with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Services Section. State Police were assisted on scene by Worcester Fire and MassDOT.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending family notification.
