Motor Vehicle Stop In Deerfield Leads To Arrest For Trafficking Narcotics

August 29, 2018 — On Thursday August, 23, at approximately 12:10 a.m., troopers assigned to the Shelburne Falls Barracks simultaneously stopped a white Toyota Camry and a red Kia Sportage after the vehicles were observed committing motor vehicle violations while travelling north on Interstate 91 in the town of Deerfield.

Trooper Anthony Lavigne stopped the Toyota Camry and identified the operator and sole occupant as ISIAH SURDAM, 34, of Newport, Vt. Trooper Michael Leslie stopped the Kia Sportage and identified the operator as ROBERT DANIELS, 35, of Orleans, Vt., and his front passenger as EDDIE TORRES, 32, of the Bronx, N.Y.

As a result of an investigation, approximately 1,398 wax bags of a narcotic believed to be Heroin, 41 grams of cocaine and 1,430.00 in cash was located and seized as evidence.

Trooper Scott Boutell and Trooper Jack Doherty and his K9 Duke assisted troopers with the motor vehicle stop.

All three parties were placed under arrest and transported to the Shelburne Falls Barracks where they were booked.

ISIAH SURDAM was charged with the following charges:

Trafficking Heroin;
Trafficking Cocaine;
Conspiracy to Violate the Drug Law;
Marked Lanes; and
Failure to Signal.

ROBERT DANIELS was charged with the following charges:

Trafficking Heroin;
Trafficking Cocaine;
Conspiracy to Violate the Drug Law;
Marked Lanes;
No Registration in Possession; and
Lights Violation.

He was also issued a motor vehicle citation for Following too Closely.

EDDIE TORRES was charge with the following charges:

Trafficking Heroin;
Trafficking Cocaine; and
Conspiracy to Violate the Drug Law

Bail for SURDAM and DANIELS was set at $5,000.00 TORRES was held without bail. All three men were transported to the Franklin House of Correction pending their arraignment on Friday August 24th in Greenfield District Court.
