Massachusetts State Police Release — 03222018 — Maine Man Arrested With Firearm

This morning, at approximately 3:50 a.m., Trooper Randy Morales and Trooper Christopher Ryan were on patrol of Route 495 in Haverhill. Trooper Morales is a graduate of the most recent MSP class, the 83rd Recruit Training Troop. At that time they observed two vehicles in the breakdown lane.

One of the vehicles appeared to have driven off the road into a ditch. As a result of an investigation, the driver of the car that went off the road, JOHN WILLIAMS, a 29-year-old male, of Madison Maine, was found to be in possession of a firearm. The passenger was identified as 32-year-old female of Mercer Maine. WILLIAMS was not licensed to carry a firearm or ammunition.

The female passenger was issued a summons for Possession of class B, Percocet.

WILLIAMS was placed under arrest and transported to the State Police Medford Barracks for booking. Bail was set at $10,000.

WILLIAMS was charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession/carrying Firearm
  • Improper Storage of Firearm
  • Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card
  • Possession of a large capacity feeding device
  • Negligent operation of MV
  • Marked lanes
