Massachusetts State Police Media Release – 02102018 – State Police Arrest Two CT Men on Heroin Related Charges in Haverhill
Yesterday morning at about 4:45 a.m., a motor vehicle stop on Route 495 in Haverhill led to the arrest of two Connecticut men on heroin related charges.
Trooper Stephen Connor, a recent graduate of the 83rd Recruit Training Troop, and his trooper coach, Michael Gerniglia, were on patrol when they observed a 2009 Subaru Legacy traveling Northbound, north of Exit 51 with a tail light out. Troopers stopped the vehicle and determined that the operator, JONMICHAEL ASHNER, 27, of Torrington CT was unlicensed to operate the vehicle. Further investigation determined that the passenger, MATTHEW BIELEFIELD, 26, also of Torrington, C.T., was in possession of a quantity of a substances believed to be heroin and a Class E prescription medication.
ASHNER was arrested for Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Being Present Where Heroin is Kept, and an equipment violation. BIELEFIELD was arrested for Possession of a Class A Drug with Intent to Distribute and Possession of a Class E Drug.
Both men were arraigned later that day in Haverhill District Court.
