State Police Investigate Serious Pedestrian Crash in Chicopee

Massachusetts State Police Media Release—11032017—State Police Investigate Serious Pedestrian Crash in Chicopee.

This evening at around 8:00 p.m. a female pedestrian was struck on the on ramp to Route 391 Northbound at Grattan Street in Chicopee. Preliminary investigation by Trooper John O’Rourke indicates that the pedestrian was crossing the on ramp and the vehicle that struck her, a 2013 Hyundai Accent, was traveling onto the on ramp from Grattan Street.

The pedestrian, a 42-year-old female from Chicopee, was transported to Baystate Medical Center with serious life threatening injuries. The operator of the motor vehicle, a 23-year-old female from Chicopee, stayed at the scene. No further information about the operator or the identity of the victim, are being released at this time.

This crash remains under investigation by troopers of the Springfield State Police Barracks with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section. No charges have been filed at this time; the ongoing investigation will determine if charges are warranted. State Police were also assisted on scene by Chicopee Fire, Pioneer Valley EMS and Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
