Massachusetts State Police Media Release – 10152017 – State Police Investigating Fatal Crash in Weymouth

Tonight at about 5:42 p.m., Trooper Carol Leurini was stationary on Route 3 north bound in Weymouth when she observed a vehicle on the southbound side of Route 3 rolling over. The operator was ejected from the vehicle.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Leurini indicates that a 65-year-old Marshfield woman was traveling southbound in a 2003 Ford Explorer when, for reasons still under investigation, she lost control of her vehicle. She then hit a second vehicle, a Honda CRV and then her vehicle rolled over. The driver of the Explorer was ejected from the vehicle.

The operator and sole occupant was transported to South Shore Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

The operator of the CRV a 66-year-old Weymouth man was uninjured. The two passengers of the CRV were also uninjured.

The cause of this crash remains under investigation with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Services Section.

State Police were assisted on scene by Weymouth Police, Fire and EMS.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending family notification.
