Massachusetts State Police Media Release – 01242017 – State Police Investigating Serious Crash on Pike in Ludlow
This morning at about 10:10 a.m., State Police from the Charlton Barracks responded to a two-vehicle crash on Route 90 westbound, just east of I/C 7 in Ludlow which resulted in serious injuries.
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Peter Neilly indicates that a 54-year-old Springfield woman was traveling on Route 90 westbound in a 2013 Nissan van when she attempted to change lanes. The driver of a 2004 Honda Accord, which was traveling in the adjoining lane, maneuvered to avoid a collision, losing control of the vehicle, causing it to collide with the Nissan before crashing into a tree in the median.
The driver of the Nissan was uninjured in the crash. The driver of the Honda, an adult female, and her 22-year-old male passenger from Woonsocket, R.I., who were entrapped in the vehicle, were extricated by Ludlow Fire before being transported by Ludlow EMS to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield for treatment of serious injuries. Another passenger in the Honda, another adult female, was also transported to BMC for treatment of serious injuries.
