Massachusetts State Police Media Release – 12302016 – State Police Investigating Serious Crash in Westford

This evening at about 8:25 p.m., State Police from the Concord barracks responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Route 495 southbound, south of exit 32, in Westford which resulted in serious injuries to the operator.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Joseph B ennett indicates that a 31-year-old Lowell man was traveling on Route 495 southbound in a 2005 Nissan Murano when, for reasons still under investigation, his vehicle left the right side of the roadway and crashed in a ditch.

The operator, who was entrapped in the vehicle and had suffered serious injuries, was extricated by Westford Fire and then transported by MedFlight (medical helicopter) to Brigham and Women’s Hospital for treatment.

This crash remains under investigation with assistance from the State Police Crime Scene Services Section. No charges have been filed at this time.  State Police were also assisted on scene by Westford Police and Mass DOT.
