Massachusetts State Police Media Release—08192016—New Hampshire Men Arrested for Illegal Possession of a Firearm

Last evening at about 7:30 pm., Trooper Michael Coflesky assigned to the Athol Barracks was on patrol on Route 2 Eastbound in the town of Westminster when he observed a 2007 black Chevy Cobalt commit motor vehicle violations. Tpr Coflesky activated his emergency lights and stopped the vehicle on Route 2 east.

The operator was identified as CURTIS BARTLETT, 28 of Jaffrey, NH. His passenger was identified as BENJAMIN STREICHER, 27 of Jaffrey, NH.

As a result of an investigation and search of the motor vehicle a 9mm Hi-Point firearm loaded with 7 rounds of ammunition in the magazine and a box of  Winchester 9mm ammunition containing 20 rounds was located inside the vehicle.

Neither BARTLET nor STREICHER possess a license to carry a firearm in Massachusetts. Both parties were placed under arrest and transported to the Athol Barracks where they were held pending their arraignment in Gardner District Court today.

BARTLETT was charged with the following offenses:

Carry a Firearm without License

Possession of Ammunition without License

Improper Storage of a Firearm

Defective Equipment

Speeding

 

STREICHER was charged with the following offenses:

Carry a Firearm without License

Possession of Ammunition without License

Improper Storage of a Firearm

Failure to wear Safety Belt
