Massachusetts State Police Media Release – 07142016 – State Police Investigating Fatal Crash in Milford

This morning at about 3:30 a.m., State Police from the Millbury barracks responded to a single-vehicle crash on Route 495 southbound, prior to Exit 19, in Milford which resulted in a fatality.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Daniel Kelly indicates that a man was traveling on Route 495 southbound in a 2005 Pontiac G6 when, for reasons still under investigation, his vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and crashed into the wood line.

The operator of the vehicle, a 20-year-old man from Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, a 22-year-old man from Ohio, was transported by Lifeflight to UMass Medical Center in Worcester for treatment of serious injuries.

The cause of this crash remains under investigation with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Services Section, as well as the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. State Police were assisted on scene by Milford Fire and EMS and MassDOT.

The name of the operator is being withheld at this time pending family notification.
