Massachusetts State Police Media Release—06302016—Woman Arrested for OUI after crashing into Sheriff’s Van on Route 24 in Raynham

This morning, at about 3:10a.m., a Bristol County Sheriff’s Office van working a detail on Route 24 North in Raynham, one half mile prior to exit 13A was struck by an alleged impaired driver. The operator was identified as MARIA NUNES-DAVEIGA, 29, of Brockton.

Preliminary crash investigation conducted by Trooper’s Douglas Mesheau and John Taylor revealed that NUNES-DAVEIGA’s vehicle, a 2007 Jeep Compass, struck the rear end of the Sheriff’s van. Neither the deputy sheriff nor the operator was injured from the crash. As the deputy was working a detail, the van was not transporting prisoners at the time of the crash.

Members of the Raynham Fire Department assisted State Police at the crash scene.

As a result of an investigation NUNES-DAVEIGA was placed under arrest and transported to the Middleboro barracks. She was charged with operating under the influence of liquor and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.  NUNES-DAVEIGA was released on bail pending her arraignment at Taunton District Court.

No further information is available. Please do not call the barracks directly.
