Massachusetts State Police Media Release – 03052016 – State Police Investigating Man In Water Behind UMass/Boston

Today at about 12:05 p.m., State Police received a report by the University of Massachusetts Police that a vehicle was located in the water behind the Boston Campus.

Preliminary information gathered from the scene indicates that a vehicle traveled through a chain-link fence and into the water behind the campus where it came to rest, partially submerged. There was one occupant in the vehicle who was subsequently determined to be deceased. Recovery efforts are underway.

This is an ongoing investigation being conducted by troopers assigned to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office with assistance from troopers assigned to Troop H, members of the State Police Marine Unit, Dive Team, Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and Crime Scene Services Section. State Police were also assisted on scene by members of the UMass Police Department, Boston Fire Department, and Boston EMS.
