UPDATE Investigation into Cab Carjacking Ongoing


The investigation into this morning’s carjacking of a cab is ongoing.

The victim is a 49-year-old Weymouth man. His name is not being released. He was driving for V & A Cab Inc., of Boston.

The two fares, a man and woman who were picked up in downtown Boston, reportedly began arguing in the cab. When the driver pulled over on Route 93 southbound near Exit 11B, they used what the victim described as a “Taser” to forcibly take his cab.

The cab has been towed to the State Police Barracks in Boston for further processing. The cab is not being made available for photos/video.

No further information is being released at this time.



INITAL RELEASE, Friday, Aug. 7, 5:17 a.m.:

At 02:48 a.m. today a state trooper responded to a report of an altercation on Route 93 southbound in the Keystone cut out in Dorchester. Upon the trooper’s arrival, the victim, a cab driver, reported that he was tazed by a passenger and his cab was stolen from him.

State Police broadcast a description of the cab. A short time later, another trooper observed the cab traveling in the opposite direction of him on Blue Hill Avenue in Mattapan, operating erratically and then crashing into a pole in front of 1336 Blue Hill Ave. The suspects in the cab, a male and female, ran away from the crash.

State troopers from the South Boston Barracks and the Milton Barracks, State Police K-9 units, and Boston Police searched for the suspects with negative results. The follow-up investigation is ongoing.
